Former Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tunisia


Jaloul Ayed
Mr. Ayed joined Citibank in 1980 where he spent 18 years. During his career with Citibank, he held various country management positions in the emerging countries of North Africa and the Middle East, and as Senior Banker with the Capital Markets Group at Citicorp International plc in London (1996-1998).

During his various assignments at Citibank, Mr. AYED has formulated and implemented business strategies in the countries under his supervision, and made significant contributions to developing Citibank franchises in the MENA region.

Mr. AYED joined the BMCE Group in 1998 as Head of the Investment Banking Division. He is the founder of BMCE Capital, the investment banking arm of BMCE, a leading investment bank in Morocco and in the region.. He also initiated the activities of BMCE Capital in Central and West Africa through the creation of a subsidiary of BMCE Capital in Senegal and Cameroon. In 2006, BMCE Capital launched its subsidiary AXIS Capital in Tunis. Mr Ayed also supervised the creation by BMCE Bank of MediCapital Bank, an FSA authorized wholesale bank in London.

Mr AYED chaired the Management Committee of the BMCE Group during the last 10 years, as well as the boards of several fully owned subsidiaries of BMCE Bank Group and FinanceCom. He also founded Argan Invest, the largest private equity platform in Morocco.

Mr Jaloul AYED held several other senior positions in the FinanceCom Group including, but not limited to Vice-Chairman of the supervisory Board of RMA Watanya, the largest insurance company in Morocco, Director of Bank of Africa and Chairman of the Board of Axis Capital, Tunis.

He was also a Director at Proparco, the French development agency, and Vice Chairman and co-founder of Euromed Capital Forum.

Mr Ayed was appointed Minister of Finance of Tunisia in January 2011 and served in the two interim governments that were formed following the Tunisian revolution.

Mr. Ayed obtained a Masters' degree in Economics at the University of Maryland in 1979 where he was elected member of the Phi kappa Phi Honor Society.

He is a renowned composer of classical music. His works include piano concertos ('Touches of Life' and 'Mogador'), a violin concerto (the 'Jasmine Concerto') and a symphony ('Hannibal Barca').

  


Ken Clayton
As Vice President of Worldwide Sales for DS SolidWorks, Ken Clayton leads the sales strategy and execution efforts of the Dassault Systèmes Professional Channel. With more than 300 FTEs and 335 Value Added Resellers, the DS Professional Channel has evolved from selling a single product to a complete family of solutions, and also includes other Dassault Systèmes brands.
Ken joined SolidWorks Corporation in 2000 as a major accounts manager and went on to hold positions of increasing responsibility, including area sales director and his most recent role of vice president of sales for the Americas. Ken's more than 25 years of sales and business experience helped grow DS SolidWorks even during challenging economic times. Previously, he served in business development roles at rapid prototyping manufacturer 3D Systems and the automotive division of Milliken & Co. Ken earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications from California State University, Chico.

Nadim (Ned) Taleb
Nadim 'Ned' Taleb is Executive Chairman and founder of Nexius Solutions Inc., one of the world's leading wireless services and software solutions companies with a personnel of 500 people in over 20 countries. In 2001, Nexius co-founded Nexius Inc. with his brother. Nexius averaged 60% growth per year over its 10 year history; rated 16th fastest growing technology company in the US by Entrepreneur Magazine, and recognized on the Deloitte Fast 50 Technology list. In July 2010, Nexius was spun out into Nexius Inc. and Nexius Solutions Inc. Nexius Inc. was sold for three times revenues to comScore, a major NASDAQ SAAS company (SCOR) with revenues over $100M, a deal that was highly regarded by analyst Deutsche Bank, and covered by Business Week, Wall Street Journal and Forbes. Nexius Solutions Inc. today continues to grow (56% growth in sales in 2011) and expended since into a full Turnkey services company deploying 4G networks for Mobile Operators and Utilities (from planning to rollout and optimization). In 2011, it won the Mobile Village Award. With 500 people in over 20 countries, Nexius forecasts to grow at 100% per year over the next two years and and has plans to open offices and warehouses in over 10 new locations.

Ned recently won the first prize of the Innovation category award of Mobile Village Award.
Ned speaks four languages and sings opera in ten languages and is also an internationally acclaimed guitarist. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Communications Engineering from American University of Beirut, and an MBA from McGill University and continuing advanced education at Harvard University.

 


Dr. Mohamed Lachemi
Dr. Mohamed Lachemi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, obtained his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, and his M.A.Sc. in Structural and Civil Engineering at Sherbrooke University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, following completion of his B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of Oran, Algeria. Dr. Lachemi's recent research projects focus on the following areas: behavior of structures and properties of concrete materials; development & use of self consolidating concrete; high performance & reactive powder concretes; use of waste products in concrete; large scale and in-situ structure instrumentation; remote monitoring of civil engineering structures; computer simulation of structures; sustainability & concrete construction; rehabilitation and repair of concrete structures; non destructive testing of concrete structures; thermal response of concrete structures; and confinement of concrete.



Ken Campbell
Ken is a senior telecom executive with strong commercial and operational experience. Built and developed successful wireless operations in some of the most exciting parts of the world. This includes building teams and leading operations from start up to more mature stages in highly competitive operating environments. He held CEO and senior marketing, commercial and strategy roles in North America (Canada), Eastern Europe (Romania, the Baltics) and North Africa (Tunisia, Egypt). Founding CEO of WIND Mobile, responsible for building new wireless operation to position as the fastest growing and preferred national wireless challenger in Canada. WIND acquired over 300,000 customers with anticipated revenues greater than $100M by second full year of operation. To date, the total investment to date is approaching $1B.

Khaled Ben Younes
Khaled is currently Executive Director Strategic Projects in Tunisiana. This is the most recent position in a progressive career path within Tunisia's leader in the telecommunication sector. Prior to this, he was Corporate Director for Regulation & International Business, and then Executive Director Quality and Program Management. His assignments in Tunisiana covered numerous strategic areas with strong business impact. Among other responsibilities, Khaled was managing regulatory affairs, national and international interconnect, as well as infrastructure sharing.
Before joining TUNISIANA, Khaled had an international experience covering different areas in the field of telecommunication. He has been active as Regional Business development Director for Siemens, as Country Director for Nokia, and Nokia Siemens Networks. During his career, Khaled has been enjoying a multinational experience in several countries of Europe, the Middle-East, and Africa.
Academically, he is holding a University Engineering degree in computer science with specialty in telecommunications (Dipl.-inf. Univ.) from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany.




Ramzi El Fekih
Ramzi is Co-Founder and Chairman of Creova (France), and CEO of Viamobile Tunisia (subsidiary of Creova). Viamobile is the first independent Mobile Payment Services Provider in Tunisia and the creator of the first mobile wallet in the region, called the mdinar® (www.mdinar.com).
Ramzi has 21 years experience (14 years in USA, 7 in Europe) with senior management responsibilities in Business Development, Product Management and Software development. Previously at Visto Corporation (now Good Technology), California and Paris, Ramzi held the position of Vice President, Carrier Solutions for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Visto is a leading mobile push email provider. Ramzi was responsible for promoting, selling, and commercializing products with the mobile operators such as Vodafone, Orange, and T-Mobile.
Before his arrival to France in 2004, Ramzi lived 20 years in the United States, with a diverse experience between large enterprises, such as Cisco, Logica, Racal Datacom, and start-ups. Ramzi was part of 4 USA start-ups, of which 2 successfully completed IPO's on the NASDAQ, and one in which he was co-founder. In 1998, Ramzi was co-founder and Vice President of Technology at Trendium Inc., Florida (USA), where he was he was directly responsible for developing the company's products and business. Prior to Trendium, Ramzi had different roles in Engineering, software architecture, program management, and technical sales, for companies such as Racal Datacom (Florida, USA), Sattel Communications (Los Angeles, USA), Logica (Boston, USA), and Cisco Systems (formerly Summa-Four, Manchester, NH).
Ramzi holds both an M.S. in Computer Engineering (1990) and a B.S. in Electrical engineering (1989) from Boston University (USA).




Zied Ben Othman
Zied joined ACP in December 2007 where he currently holds a manager position. He structed and monitored 8 investments in SME's at ACP and he has 9 years of professional experience in private equity in Tunisia. Prior to joining ACP, he was an investment officer at SODICAB ( a Tunisian regional investment company) where he constituted and monitored a portfolio of 7 SME's.
Zied holds a Master of Finance from IHEC (Institut des hautes études commerciales de Carthage) and a Master of Financial Engineering from ESC-TUNIS (Ecole sup érieure de commerce).

Projected Climate Change Effects in Tunisia: Water Resource Impacts and Actions


Prof. Richard Schuhmann
Prof. Schuhmann is the Walter L. Robb Director of Engineering Leadership Development at the Pennsylvania State University. He holds faculty positions in Engineering Design, Science Technology and Society, and Civil & Environmental Engineering. Prof. Schuhmann has over two decades of experience as a consulting environmental engineer on water resource project across the globe. He has addressed climate change, particularly climate change denial, through scholarly research, a TEDx talk and most recently at a forum with leaders in the field to discuss "Changing the Moral Climate on Climate Change".

Dr. Naveed Khaliq
Dr. Khaliq has a Master of Engineering degree in Water Resources Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and another Master and a Doctorate degree in Engineering Hydrology from the National University of Ireland. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Global Institute for Water Security of the School of Environment and Sustainability, University of Saskatchewan. He also holds an Adjunct Professor position at the center ESCER (Étude et Simulation du Climat à l'Échelle Régionale) of the University of Quebec at Montreal. He is actively engaged in the assessment of climate change impacts on water resources across Canada and extreme hydro-climatic events, ranging from droughts to floods and precipitation extremes, as well as identification of temporal changes in observational records and their objective interpretation.

Dr. Fateh Chebana
Dr. Khaliq has a Master of Science and a Doctorate degree in Statistics both from Pierre et Marie Curie University (Paris 6). He also established a postdoc at Centre Eau Terre Envieronnement, INRS, Quebec, Canada, where he currently holds a professor position. Dr. Chebana research focuses on modeling and estimation of hydrological events in a multivariate context. This work provides a more accurate estimate of risks related to extreme hydrological events, especially floods and drought.

Imed Jamoussi
Imed's professional experience started since January 1986 when he was part of the teaching assistant group at the school of Industrial Engineering and Management at Oklahoma State University. On August 1987 he has been hired by the Regional Institute of Information Systems and Telecommunication as project manager. Since August 1988 I have been part of the staff of the Societe des Fonderies JF, a Tunisian Private Company, where he has been charged of many tasks: Work measurement, Information system, Production control, Cost accounting. Today, he is the managing director of that company. Beside his family and job challenges, he is interested in the subject of family business. He is also a member of the scientific council and had the privilege to be one of the founding members of thissame University.

Imed holds Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management (1985), and Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management (1987), both from Oklahoma State University - USA. He also obtained an Executive MBA (2005) from the Mediterranean School of Business, Tunis, Tunisia.



Hatem Sellami
Hatem specializes in retail forecasting and in developing advanced scientific solutions to improve the performance of retailers' supply and demand chains. Prior to co-founding Predictix, he spent over 8 years with Retek (now part of Oracle Retail) where he managed Retek Labs, the group that had overall responsibility for the science, product management, and development for all of Retek's predictive and optimization solutions. Prior to that he managed the Retek Predictive Consulting Services organization with global responsibility for implementing all forecasting and planning solutions. His career at Retek started as a science lead within the R&D group responsible for the forecasting solution. Throughout his career, Dr. Sellami had the opportunity to work with the leading retailers in the world such as Sainsbury's, Nordstrom, Best Buy, Tesco, AS Watson, Sonae, WH Smith, FNAC, Walgreens, Ross Stores, Coles Group, Myer, Edcon, Kroger, Woolworths, Office Depot, Wegmans, BHS, C&A, Despar, Longs Drugs, Macy's, and others. Dr. Sellami holds a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering, a master's degree in electrical engineering, a master's degree in business administration, and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering, all from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.



Firas BenAchour
Mr. BenAchour is a seasoned technology entrepreneur and executive with 25 years of experience in working with innovative technology and healthcare startups. He is also an angel investor and a mentor for several young entrepreneurs in the MENA region.
Firas BenAchour is currently the Founder and President for CloudMedx, a healthcare startup addressing the needs of consumer health and wellness. Firas BenAchour is also a CoFounder and an Advisor at Diagnosoft, a venture-backed healthcare technology startup located in the Research Triangle Park in Morrisville, North Carolina. Diagnosoft offers unique enterprise clinical analytics and knowledge support solutions. He was the President and CEO for Diagnosoft from 2008-2012.
Mr. BenAchour is also Founding Member at Tunisian American Young Professionals TAYP. The organization focuses on fostering economic and financial relationship between USA and Tunisia to encourage and increase the flow of private and public investment between the two countries.
Mr. BenAchour was with CareSystems as Vice President of Sales and Market Development. While at CareSystems, he established the sales and marketing strategy and re-organized and focused the business operation in preparation for venture capital funding. Previous to that BenAchour was Regional Vice President of Sales with CareFusion (acquired by Cardinal health). He managed sales operation for eastern US and grew the region's revenue year over year. BenAchour has also held various positions at Per-Se Technologies (acquired by McKesson), including Business Development Director and Account Executive.
